For Brenda, life had always been difficult. She was constantly called names and being picked on because they saw her as fat and overweight.

While the social stigma of being overweight was painful, life at home was also a challenge as family members knew I was overweight and although would not say I was fat would bribe me to lose weight for money. This type of motivation did not work for me and I grew up as an overweight kid.

As I grew up and became an adult, my weight really started to impact my health as my joints and bones were often stiff and a source of pain. Just walking up and down stairs was a daily task I dreaded.

I created a life that limited my physical activity and got a job where I could work from home. I kept increasing my medications to help ease the pain and looking back I did less and less physical activity every week and consistently gained more and more weight until I exceeded 300 pounds.

Then after reading an article on Carnie Wilson and her weight loss surgery, I began actively researching the process and after gathering deal of information choose Florida Hospital to perform my bariatric surgery.

Today Brenda is 138 pounds and is active and living life. She is happy to have lost the weight and likes being "normal" and in control of her life.
